Dan Evans
Relationship to VRCIM laboratory: Dan received his Master of
Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2000 from Washington State
University. His thesis: Implementation of Haptic Devices in Computer
Aided Engineering Applications was an early study of the use and
effectiveness of force feedback devices in virtual environments.
Career:
Since leaving the VRCIM lab in June of 2000, Dan has been
working for
Translation Technologies Inc as a senior software engineer.
Translation Technologies supplies feature-based CAD model translation
software and services used for the translation of CAD models between
six major MCAD systems: Pro/Engineer, CATIA 4, CATIA 5, Solidworks,
Ideas, and Unigraphics. Dan has been working with Translation
Technologies as a software engineer and has enjoyed the opportunity to
work with engineers throughout various industries from automotive to
aerospace, developing software that helps solve aspects of the complex
interoperability problem.
Personal: Soon after leaving Washington State University, Dan
was married to his beautiful wife, Karen. They have since been blessed
with two children, Sarah and Joshua. Dan is living in the Tri-Cities
area of Washington where he never misses an opportunity to enjoy many
outdoor activities.
